Afsluiting van het project: "The Four elements."

Hello everybody,

Today we finished the project: "The Four Elements."
It was great to see all students with different kites in the playground. Teacher Ans gave a short summary of all the elements, the activities and the diary.
After they played with their kites and gave them as a Gift to the parents. In the classrooms there was a possibility to watch the project. The diary was presented to the headmaster.
Below there are some pics and a film about that afternoon.
We felt very happy to have finished the project in a good way, with support of all teachers, the parents, students and local companies! Thanks to all of you!

The element "AIR"

Hi you all,

Students from group 7 made their own kites. They liked it very much to perform.

The kites they have made are all different and the pupils worked very hard and concentrated.

The results are beautiful as you can see.

                              Jelmer is very clever, he hammered kites for all his classmates.

The element "AIR"

Hi all,

As from now you can find our activities about the element "Air."
Pupils of 4 and 5 years old already started with a dance: "Alles in de wind."

Then they created a coloured paper chain, jumping and waving in the wind.
Have a look...

 

                                      The younger ones made a “little” kite and a windmill.

                                                    It was great playing with them.

 

                                                    Daan, our Dragon, is always near by.

                                  We played a game and sung a song called: “Alles in de wind.”

                                                         ( Everything in the wind).

Fire brigade at the Bernardus school!

Hi you all,

Wednesday April 17 th there was a visit of the fire brigade at the Bernardusschool.

It was the final event to cloose the element "Fire"of the project: "The Four Elements."
We started with a `real` fire in school to be aware what to do when there is a fire emergency.
It´s very important what to do/handle in such an occasion, as staying calm, close windows, take the list of names of pupils and wait for a sign to leave school into the right direction outside. Outside the teacher calls student names to be sure nobody is inside anymore.  The teacher shows a green card if all students of his class are outside! There will be shown a red card when someone is missing. In this case the security person will go inside the school to have a look again, trying to find the missing person.

On this special day there were different  activities for all groups.
Pupils of 10 and 11 years old listened to a fireman, who told the students about fire dangerous, causing fire, temperature of fire, what to do if people are very wounded by fire and above all to find a plan to escape in a fire situation.

 

The firewoman below also demonstrated how she's dressed in a fire situation..

 

 

It is also very hard to find the way to escape when you can't see anything by smoke.

It's an awful smell, dangerous for breathing as well.

Pupils try to find the way to go outside the classroom....

 

 

For the youngest it was so great to take a seat in fire car.

 

 

 

They also tried to put out a real fire..very hard to handle..

 

Also Daan, was present and he likes the activities very much...
